Cet outil statistique, qui mesure la variation de la demande d&rsquo;un produit en fonction de son prix, semble \u00e0 premi\u00e8re vue \u00eatre la cl\u00e9 de vo\u00fbte d&rsquo;une strat\u00e9gie tarifaire optimis\u00e9e. Cependant, une question se pose : <\/span>l\u2019\u00e9lasticit\u00e9 prix est-elle vraiment un levier fiable pour toutes les d\u00e9cisions tarifaires ?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Depuis quelques temps, certains \u00e9diteurs et enseignes en ont fait un pilier strat\u00e9gique, adoss\u00e9 \u00e0 une lecture math\u00e9matique de la fonction de demande. En th\u00e9orie, il suffit de conna\u00eetre le taux de variation du prix pour estimer la variation en pourcentage de la quantit\u00e9 demand\u00e9e. C\u2019est une logique s\u00e9duisante, align\u00e9e sur les principes de la micro\u00e9conomie, en particulier dans des contextes de concurrence pure et parfaite.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mais plusieurs \u00e9conomistes s\u2019accordent sur les limites concr\u00e8tes de cette approche. Les donn\u00e9es historiques biais\u00e9es, notamment sur les <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">variations de prix <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">dues aux promotions ou ruptures, faussent souvent les estimations. Sur les produits \u00e0 faible volume, les quantit\u00e9s \u00e9chang\u00e9es sont insuffisantes pour fournir une fonction fiable. Et <\/span>dans un environnement de march\u00e9 concurrentiel, le prix est rarement le seul facteur qui influence la demande de prix.\u00a0<\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Prenons l&rsquo;exemple des produits de grande rotation : leur quantit\u00e9 produite suit des cycles de ventes pr\u00e9visibles.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">En revanche, les produits des <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">marques de distributeur <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(MDD) de niche, souvent per\u00e7us comme de moindre qualit\u00e9, peuvent avoir une <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00e9lasticit\u00e9 faible<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, voire nulle.
